Is it the Dunwich Horror, a shoggoth, or something else?

The setting of the game is Dunwich indeed ... the creature should be some higher servant to the old ones.

I love Lovecraftian horror! this piece is very well done, it captures Lovecraft's atmosphere very well...i'm struggling to identify what exactly i'm looking at (and that's the point) a great old one perhaps?

Yes it's an illustration for a game taking place in Dunwich. I guess it has quite loose regards to the literature in this case ...

It kinda does. Vaguely humanoid head yards and yards across, egg shaped body, tentacles and mouths. Can't really see all of it, but it looks more like Whatleys brother to me than the Haunter in the Dark. Mainly being that it doesn't have a three lobed eye.

Edit: Since you blocked me from commenting further, I'll just have to post it here. Wow, you went from 0 to Asshole in like... 0.5 seconds.

So according to you it could be anything. That's interesting because it deffinantly isn't a Yithian or an Elder Thing, looks nothing like a Mi-Go or Cthulhu. Doesn't look like a Star Spawn, or a Star Vampire. You can argue it resembles one of the Dark Young, but without the hooves it's hard to say. Too small to be Azathoth or Yog-Sothoth. If you think it could be anything, then does that mean it's a bunny? Maybe it's Bambi or an apple. Yeah, thats anything. No wait... It's probably a broken television set with some ramen on the side, after all it could be anything.

Despite what many people say, many Lovecraftian entities are really destinctive. No one is going to mistake Tsathoggua for Cthulhu or Hastur. Yog-Sothoth is describes as an infinite ammount of irridescent Spheres, Shub-Nigguraths Dark Young look like trees walking on hooves with mouths all on the branches, Deep Ones look like the Creature from Black Lagoon if it was combined with an angler fish.

Plus the face of this thing is vaguely human, the mouth is in the right place and there may e more eyes than normal, but they are in the same general location of a humans face, it even has that distinct human shaped head. Also, if that was suposed to be a joke, I am sorry to say that you are just not a funny person, don't quit your day job.

It doesn't have a half human face, you idiot. And I was joking. It could be anything. Bye.
